Autoship®
+ Autohydro®
Main Tool for Gulf Coast
Vessel Design
Autoship Systems Corporation of Vancouver, Canada is
pleased to supply small to medium size shipyards with
our industry-standard marine design programs. An example
of such an end user is Neuville Boat Works of the USA,
who has been using Autoship Systems programs for 14
years.
Don Bordelon in the Engineering Department writes:
"Located in south-central Louisiana, Neuville
Boat Works is a small, family owned business formed
in 1969 that specializes in the design and fabrication
of aluminum boats from 40' to 170' primarily as crew-supply
vessels in support of the oil industry here in the Gulf
of Mexico.
We were introduced to Autoship Systems in 1992 when
we purchased the old DOS based Autoboat software
which we've used to design scores of vessels giving
us beautifully faired lines and saving us the arduous
task of lofting, It absolutely paid for itself the first
time out. As time progressed though, it became apparent
that we would have to upgrade our old software to the
newer Windows® based
programs. Over the years since then, we've purchased
Autoship®,
Autopower®
and finally Autohydro®
which we acquired as a backup in the event that we lost
the assistance of a marine consultant who for years
handled all of our intact and damage stability calculations.
Well, as circumstances would have it, we did lose him
in December 2005.
Now, for the first time, it became necessary for us
to put together our own Trim and Stability packages.
As we began the process of setting up the software for
our vessels, we were quick to contact the Autoship people
for technical assistance. We were pleasantly surprised
to discover how willing they were to help us always
responding to our emails and calls promptly. Over the
next couple of months, we learned how to use Autohydro
to produce an acceptable stability package and now feel
confident that with our Autoship software suite we can
handle virtually any future vessel design requirement
that comes our way, large or small."
