MetalCraft Marine Decides on Software
from Autoship Systems
Autoship Systems Corporation is pleased to announce that
Ontario-based MetalCraft Marine, a leading aluminum boat
builder, has successfully installed several new naval
architecture programs for their Engineering Department,
including Autoship, Autobuild and Autopower.
MetalCraft specializes in designing and building of
work boat related aluminum vessels. They will use Autoship
programs on all future design projects. Up until this
time, MetalCraft designers have been using AutoCad with
limited success. They expect that with the use of Autoship's
design tools specifically suited with dealing with ship
shapes, their design and production time could see time
savings up towards 35% in the first year.
Autoship Systems won the software contract based on
a test case of inputting existing hull lines into the
Autoship hull design program, and were then asked to
expand a developable surface. The accuracy of the results
and the quickness of the turn around time on providing
developable surface generation proved to MetalCraft
management that the cost recovery payback time was going
to be very short on their investment.
MetalCraft has recently delivered the first of the
Polar series of versatile self-propelled work barges
to the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans for
buoy tender operations.
