The following description of how Autoship System's software will be used at the US Naval Postgraduate School was written by LCDR Ray Cooke of the Total Ship Systems Engineering Program:

"The Total Ship Systems Engineering (TSSE) Program at the US Naval Postgraduate School is designed to teach Naval Officers the process of system engineer through the integrated development of a complete ship system. The Autoship Systems software is intended to be used to facilitate the development of ship hull forms which the students may then conduct various trade studies and analyses to determine which is the most efficient and effective from a total ship system perspective."

"One of the principal objectives of the TSSE program is to ensure that each student has a firm understanding of basic ship design and engineering. The program has been looking for a software program, which was capable of analyzing non-traditional hull forms. The Autoship System will allow us to more efficiently explore multiple designs from traditional to more radical concepts. Additionally, the program wanted to use software that was based on commercial industry standards and provided a user interface compatible with present and future technology."
