Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) was pleased to welcome
large numbers of
visitors to our booth at the 2003 International WorkBoat
Show, 3-5 December in New Orleans. We're used to encountering
interest in our CAD/CAM tools at WorkBoat shows, however
this year saw particular interest in the innovative
and expanded capabilities of our new Autostructure
Group. This year also an unprecedented level of interest
in onboard stability software and stowage management
systems - indicating an anticipation of changes in maritime
insurance and security environments.
WorkBoat was ASC's first showing of the complete Production
Manager program, our most recent addition to the Autostructure
Group. Visitors were impressed with the powerful set
of structural fabrication functions - such as part nesting
onto stock material - and by our new parametric design
features. The response confirmed that ASC's vessel design
and construction package continues to be respected around
the world for its ease of use, precision, and innovative
approach to design.
Attendees also saw our brand-new Autoload interface,
which was first
developed for the offshore industry. Operators of all
vessel types dropped by and asked about our Lloyds and
DNV approved Autoload hydrostatics software,
a reflection of changes coming to an industry that are
making stability software an even higher priority.
ASC's stowage planning modules (which can be added
to Autoload as loading tools, or assembled in
a dedicated Stowage Planning System) attracted attention
from diverse companies, each focusing on particular
cargo and vessel types requirements. Ro-ro, oil barge,
and container carriers were attracted by last-minute,
data-linked, real-time booking and stowage plan updates,
as well as intelligent, semi-automatic stowage pattern
prediction for common cargo and routes.
