Top Eastern European Marine Groups
Install Software from Autoship Systems
Autoship Systems Corporation is pleased to announce
that two well respected marine industry groups from
Eastern Europe have purchased the naval architecture
software from Autoship Systems Corporation of Canada.
The installation at Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries
in Mangalia, Romania includes a five user networked
version of the AutoSHIP WORKS Package and four copies
of AutoNC and AutoNC Nesting. After reviewing
several different packages, including the Tribon System,
the shipyard chose the Autoship System and the AutoNC
System because the software better met the type of ships
the yard designs and builds, and the price was affordable.
The fact that Autoship Systems could offer a fully networked
PC solution to complete the entire design process was
important in the final analysis.
Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries is a joint venture
between the Korean shipyard Daewoo Heavy Industries
and private interests now controlling the once government-run
Mangalia Yard. Autoship Systems will be providing full
training at the yard in July. This order represents
the largest installation of the Autoship System at any
other shipyard in the world.
The Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamics Centre in Varna, Bulgaria
is a national research and development organization
under the Ministry of Industry of Bulgaria. Their scope
of activities include: applied research in ship and
offshore hydrodynamics, coastal hydraulics, aerodynamics,
consultancy and engineering services for marine applications.
The Autoship System will be used for geometrical pre-processor
for Computational Fluid Dynamics methods, core modules
in hydrodynamic hull form optimization, generation of
lines drawings for manufacture of ships models. The
Centre is also involved in training of students from
the Naval Architecture Department at Varna Technical
University.
The Director of the Center, Dr. Plamen Chikolov, preferred
to use the Autoship System since it uses the state-of-the-art
NURBS mathematics in ship form modeling, supports IGES
and DXF file formats, offers graphical user interface
(GUI) operating under Windows, requires acceptable and
affordable hardware resources and exports files to other
programs, such as MS Excel.
