Boston Whaler Installs Autohydro
from Autoship Systems
Autoship Systems Corporation, is pleased to announce that
Florida based, Boston Whaler, a leading fiberglass boat
builder, has chosen Autohydro Release 5 for their
hydrostatic/stability work. Boston Whaler has been a user
of Autoship hull design, for over 8 years and now
has the capability of using an integrated suite of marine
design programs.
Autohydro is a Windows based 'floating simulator'
that reports the reaction of the model to various conditions,
such as a loading configuration, a damage situation,
conditions involving outside forces, wind or high speed
turning momentum or some combination of these. One of
the powers of the program is displaying the vessel's
attitude graphically and in text on the screen. Report
information can be shown on the screen, edited, printed,
saved in Autohydro's spreadsheet-like Report
Editor.
New features for Autohydro 5 in 1999, include:
1) a fixed weight dialog with ability to define distributed
weights, 2) user-definable report format, 3) capability
to evaluate dynamic criteria, and 4) user control over
position of section displayed in body view.
Boston Whaler's use of Autoship is described
by Chief Engineer, Dan Milke, "The incorporation
of Autoship into our design process has reduced
time and costs considerably. Autoship surfaces
are used in the design of our hulls, decks and innerliners.
All surfaces are milled on a huge five axis milling
machine. Autoship allows us to edit the surfaces
themselves rather than stringing surfaces between edited
lines. Since the surface is the original element the
Autoship surfaces mill faster than other CAD
derived surfaces due to reduced processor time."
New Features for Autoship 7 in 1999, include:
1) editable trimmed surfaces, 2) rolling ball fillet
function, allowing easy creation of smooth radius fillets
between surfaces, 3) real-time hydrostatics, and 4)
simultaneous multiple vertex control.
