Autoship Systems goes DOT.COM with
their software
Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) is pleased to announce
that in partnership with Stargate,
an ISP/ASP provider, they have developed a web site whereby
their load planning software, LPS, can be used remotely.
Using thin client technology, ASC can now enable clients
all over the world to work with LPS without actually installing
the software on their personal computers.
Remote access through the Internet allows users to
run LPS using any available computer with Internet connection.
The type of the computer and its operating system is
no longer relevant. Moreover, the thin client technology
allows multiple users to run the same instance of LPS
at the same time. For example port captains, stevedores
and chief officers can work interactively on the same
stowage plan.
Recently, ASC, based in Vancouver, Canada, used this
technology to conduct familiarization training for load
planners of two major shipping lines. In both cases,
the system users never had to leave their respective
offices.
In another initiative, ASC is working with supercargoes
to develop an Internet load planning capability specific
to supercargoes' requirements. ASC is also exploring
the possibility of putting their new CAD/CAM software,
Autostructure, on the Internet.
These initiatives greatly reduce training costs, increase
efficiency of customer technical support, and give software
users the option of using the web-enabled software on
a per use basis rather than having to purchase the software.
Autoship Systems Corporation is a world leading developer
of integrated cargo management and load planning systems,
