Autoship Hull Design – The
Industry Standard
Key clients upgrade their Autoship Pro software as Autoship
Systems Corporation (ASC) continues to release advanced
naval architecture CAD/CAM software. Recent upgrades
to Boston Whaler of the USA and Fr. Lürssen Werft
(Lürssen) of Germany prove that these famous companies
are committed to Autoship Pro as a design tool to achieve
their innovative hull lines. Both companies purchased
their first Autoship Pro versions in 1995.
Soon after Boston Whaler introduced Autoship Pro into
their design processes, the company experienced benefits
of reduced engineering time and improved design efficiencies
never seen before. Famous for their dynamic hull shapes,
Boston Whaler uses Autoship Pro in the design of their
hull plugs (pictured above). As Whaler’s Head Engineer,
Keith Ranieri says, “The Autoship software has
allowed us to consistently produce high-quality, perfectly
symmetric, and wellfaired hull plugs over the years.
After 10 years of use, it's still the best program on
the market".
Boston Whaler's new 270 Outrage introduces a refined
version of their famous Accutrack™ hull system,
featuring a deep-V hull with an even sharper angle of
entry, yielding a cutting edge ride. Strategically
positioned reverse chines and running strakes provide
lift, superior tracking and a deflect spray for a dry
ride were all developed in Autoship Pro.
Lürssen uses Autoship Pro to design and build
highly sophisticated master-built motor yachts. Lürssen
relies heavily on Autoship to develop hull lines that
are a designer’s dream. Being in the marine business
for
125 years, Lürssen has succeeded by using ‘best
of breed’ technology such as Autoship Pro.
ASC is continuing to improve Autoship for the benefit
of all new and existing users like Lürssen and
Boston Whaler.
Soon to be released Autoship 9.0 will incorporate exciting
new design tools, including:
Feature Patches –
a system of introducing local shape control on a surface
without dealing with unwanted control points.
Edge Mate – allows
all or part of the edge of one surface to be matched
exactly to all or part of another surface’s edge
with full control over the shape of the transition.
Project Integration & Export
– surfaces which incorporate Feature Patches and/or
Edge Mates are fully integrated into their Autoship
project. They are contoured, intersected, trimmed, meshed
and rendered just as any other surface. They also export
exactly via IGES, making transfer of designs from Autoship
to other programs simple and accurate.
