"I purchased Autostructure last year (2004)
after using it briefly on a trial run. I needed to speed
up and simplify designing the structural components
in the boat hulls. I had been designing all the structural
components in Autoship, and AutoCAD for many
years, which worked, however was tedious work.
After going through the Autostructure tutorial
(which is very well written), I started using the software
immediately. So far I've designed the structural components
for boats ranging from an 18ft sports-fisherman to a
37ft twin diesel cruising boat to a 25ft pilot house
cruiser, and a 20ft RIB.
The ease and speed with which I can put a set of longitudinals
and bulkheads into a hull and have them ready to machine
cut puts a smile on my face every time." Read

"With the Autoship software we have been able
to improve both our efficiency and precision in fishing
boat design."

"The Autoship software has allowed us to consistently
produce high-quality, perfectly symmetric, and wellfaired
hull plugs over the years. After 10 years of use, it's
still the best program on the market".

"..with the Autoship System we will be able to
see higher productivity with on-time engineering. As
an AutoCAD shop, we needed marine specific tools to
complement our current engineering processes. We also
needed user-friendly software with a short learning-curve
and we have thus chosen Autoship."

"Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, Virginia,
USA, uses the marine design software from Autoship Systems
Corporation of Vancouver, Canada for various engineering
projects.
Individual projects that the said software was, and
is, used on, cannot be disclosed due to the business
sensitive nature of the information. However, we confirm
that the Autoship System software serves an important
role in completing many design tasks within our engineering
departments on our entire product line. This includes
tankers, passenger ships, aircraft carriers and submarines."
Todd L. Sedler, Research Engineer - Newport News
Shipbuilding, USA.
"Autoship is a very important tool for our shipyard."

"Autoship is powerful, easy to learn and
to use. As Autoplate uses the same interface
as Autoship, I didn't find any difficulty during
the self-learning process.
In Autoplate it is easy to create butts and
seams (boundaries of the plates) using mainly projected
curves to the shell. I fair the curves in 2D planes
and after we project them to the shell in order to obtain
the plate boundaries. By only choosing the orthogonal
directions of projection, the end results were quite
easy.
The method to create plates is very intuitive by clicking
the plate boundaries. Also to expand plates and create
templates for forming it is easy to manipulate. Several
options are given to see the results, which helps to
observe the accuracy of the expansion. Autoplate
can expand quite well plates that seem to be practically
non-expandable.
At our shipyard we have used Autoplate on a
present new build, in parallel with conventional methods
(Japanese analogic machine) to compare the results and
with positive results we intend to use Autoplate
for the next new building. The very good DXF interface
of Autoplate with AutoCAD, also is very attractive
to us."
